Why clients aren’t finding you on Google - and what can realistically be done

The most common reason isn’t competition, but a website that tells Google nothing. These are the five things we check first - and what each one realistically brings.

When a business owner comes to us saying "I have a website, but nobody finds me", nine times out of ten the problem isn’t that the competition is stronger. The problem is that the website doesn’t tell Google three basic things: what you do, where you do it and who you do it for.

1. Page titles that mean nothing

"Home - Welcome" is a title that tells Google nothing. "Plumber in Niš - emergency call-outs 24/7" says everything. Every page’s title is the first and strongest message to the search engine - and most websites waste it on a greeting.

2. Lokacija se nigde ne pominje

If you provide a service in your town and its surroundings, but the town is only mentioned in the footer - for Google you practically don’t exist in local search. The location belongs in titles, copy and the contact page, naturally and without stuffing.

3. One page for all services

When all services are piled onto one page, none is "strong" enough to rank. Every important service deserves its own page with its own title - often the most cost-effective change on the whole website.

4. A website slow on the phone

For years now, Google has evaluated websites by their mobile version. A website that takes six seconds to load on a phone loses both visitors and rankings. Image compression and tidy code usually solve most of the problem.

5. The Google Business profile doesn’t exist or is empty

For local searches ("hairdresser near me") a Google Maps profile often appears before any website. A completed profile with photos, working hours and reviews is free - and brings inquiries even to companies without a website.

ADVICE FROM PRACTICE
The order we work in: the business profile and titles first (fastest effect), then service structure across pages, then speed. A measurable shift in local search usually shows within 4–8 weeks.
